How to create a fake Shopify dashboard (step-by-step, 2026)
This video may show an older version or a language different from yours; however, the current dashboard is fully up to date, continuously improved, and fully customizable in your exact language.
Looking for how to create a fake Shopify dashboard that holds up on screen without anyone blinking? This is the step-by-step version: what you need, the settings in order, the numbers to type in, and the mistakes that give a demo away. For the “why” and the use cases, start with the complete fake Shopify dashboard simulator guide; here, we build.
What you need
- A DashSim account and access to the Shopify simulator: 24h or lifetime. The 24h plan covers a one-off need on desktop (a shoot, a demo); lifetime adds the mobile version, notifications and UI updates.
- An up-to-date browser on a computer. To film on a phone, the Shopify phone app is included with lifetime.
- Ten minutes and an order of magnitude in mind: the monthly revenue your demo is supposed to tell.
The how-it-works guide explains the simulator without selling it; the product page sells access. Nothing else is required: no Shopify account, no API, no real store.
Step 1 — Open the simulator
After payment you land directly on your creation interface. No setup: enter your numbers and the dashboard appears. From then on, your dashboards are one click away in your account, any time.
Step 2 — Open the DashSim remote
Everything is set from the DashSim remote, the simulator’s control panel. Inside the admin it opens from Settings, at the bottom of the left navigation. It is split into tabs: General, Home, Analytics and Live View. It also offers fullscreen and a button to exit the dashboard.
Step 3 — Set the language and currency
In the General tab, pick the language and the default dashboard currency before touching any number. A UK store showing dollars, or a French-language admin for a prospect in Austin, is the first detail that jumps out. With lifetime, language and currency also apply to notifications and can be changed any time from your account.
Step 4 — Enter your metrics
Still in General, fill in the store name, visits, total sales, orders and conversion rate. Add your products (name and sales count): sales are distributed automatically from your orders. Then click Generate all: the whole dashboard fills in — home cards, period charts (day, 7 days, 30 days), Analytics, Live view.
To tweak one number later without regenerating everything, use Apply: it updates values without changing the other pages. The Home, Analytics and Live View tabs let you refine page by page. Your figures are saved in the browser: a refresh does not wipe them, unlike an Inspect Element edit.
Step 5 — Choose realistic numbers
This is the step everyone rushes. A good fake Shopify dashboard is one nobody notices. Three rules:
- Consistent AOV — total sales ÷ orders must give an average order value that fits the niche: $45 for skincare, $120 for furniture, not the other way round.
- Conversion inside the range — orders ÷ visits. Between 1.5% and 3% for most niches; above 5%, the person watching pulls out a calculator. Sector ranges are in our conversion rate guide.
- Volume that matches traffic — 400 orders from 3,000 visits does not exist. Start from visits, derive orders, then sales.
An example that holds: 28,500 visits, 640 orders (2.2%), $41,600 in sales, so a $65 AOV. To know what each card means and what a trained eye looks for, read the Shopify dashboard metrics guide.
Step 6 — Turn on notifications (lifetime)
With lifetime access, install DashSim on your phone’s home screen (iPhone or Android) from your browser, then enable the option in your account. You then receive order alerts identical to Shopify, cha-ching sound included. Text, language, currency, amount and number of alerts are customizable: make the alert amounts match the AOV from step 5.
Step 7 — Film or screenshot
- Switch to fullscreen from the remote, then close it: nothing from DashSim should remain in the frame.
- On desktop, record the screen in HD; the render is pixel-perfect, so no need to zoom or blur.
- On a phone, start screen recording, open the app from the home screen and let one or two notifications land during the take.
- For a live demo, charts and the visitor counter move: let the dashboard breathe for a few seconds before you speak.
Mistakes that give a fake Shopify dashboard away
- The hockey-stick curve — vertical growth over 30 days convinces nobody. Prefer a steady trend. For a credible starting point, the remote’s “Coherent random” button generates figures that match each other (sales, orders, conversion, AOV) for the store size you pick.
- An inconsistent AOV — a $12 basket for a watch brand, or $300 for stickers.
- The wrong currency or language — set in step 3, checked before you hit record.
- A 9% conversion rate — that is not impressive, it is suspicious.
- A generic store name — “My Store” shows as much as a wrong number.
Where the line is
DashSim is a demo simulator, not affiliated with Shopify. Use it for demos, training and content — never to run a real store or deceive a third party. No Shopify account is connected, no payment happens, and every figure is one you typed. Presenting a simulated dashboard as real revenue to sell a course or raise money is deceptive advertising, not a demo.
Frequently asked questions
How long does it take? About ten minutes the first time, two the next: your numbers stay saved.
Can I edit the numbers afterwards? Yes, any time from the remote; Apply updates without regenerating the rest.
Does it work on a phone with the 24h plan? No: the 24h plan is desktop. The phone app and notifications come with lifetime, and your remaining 24-hour access is credited toward the upgrade.
What about showing payments? The Stripe simulator follows the same logic (gross volume, payments, balances); a Shopify + Stripe lifetime bundle exists on the product pages. Walkthrough: fake Stripe dashboard.
